While the world at large may not have heard new music from Sunrise HWY since their 2014 cult classic debut EP (on Tensnake's True Romance label), the Brooklynite team of Amy Douglas and Tim Wagner has been busy surreptitiously shaping and redefining the sonic template of the dance music scene.

Since their inception in 2011, the genre-hopping duo have become one of NYC's most potent and in-demand creative engines. Together the two penned and produced Amy's solo DFA solo single "Never Saw It Coming". Amy has written for and/or collaborated with artists like Roisin Murphy, Juan MacLean, Treasure Fingers, Horse Meat Disco, Luke Solomon, The Crooked Man, Soul Clap and, most recently Hard Feelings, her acclaimed project with Hot Chip's Joe Goddard (on Domino Records). Tim formed the bands A Separate Reality (with longtime friend/fellow producer Nick Chacona) and Birds Of Pandæmonium and launched the influential radio program and label imprint Our Starry Universe with Spicy Boys DJ Tommy Castro.

Finally, after a nearly 8-year hiatus, Douglas and Wagner are back (now on KID Recordings) with an incendiary cover of The Happy Mondays' seminal Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne-produced "Madchester" anthem "Kinky Afro" (from the group's landmark 1990 studio album 'Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches').

Drawing on the louche punky undercurrents of the original while injecting it with a healthy dose of inimitable NY underground grit and grease, the pair create an eruptive fever-bomb of irreverent psychedelic pop and kaleidoscopic urban tropicalism effortlessly melding Amy's fiery "Disco Diva-cum-Rock Goddess" signature vocals with Tim's soaring guitars, crisp drums, euphoric melodious keys and a sweltering infectious groove.
