Oi Sophia Kourtesis Remix

Catching Flies

Indigo Soul
IS043 | 2022-11-16
Remix of Catching Flies' 'Oi' by producer of the moment, Sofia Kourtesis. She has recently gathered support from the likes of The Guardian, Resident Advisor, Mixmag (including a Mixmag Cover Mix & Feature), NME who said her music proves 'club-ready music can be beautiful, thought-provoking and banging all at the same time,' and a hectic summer filled with a headline tour in the US and EU, and key festival appearances at the likes of Glastonbury, Pitchfork Music Festival, Portola, Parklife, Melt, shows supporting Flume and more.

Catching Flies - real name George King - returns with new single 'Oi'. Fusing UKG sensibilities with live instrumentation and warm, sophisticated textures; 'Oi' is a bright dancefloor banger aiming to keep the summer alive for a few more weeks.

George explains, "I was trying to channel the feeling of those long, hot school holiday summers in London in my teens; listening to MJ Cole, Wookie, Artful Dodger and having crushes on people who didn't feel the same way. 'Oi' is an ode to that era of my life and an attempt to write something a bit more fun and light hearted."

'Oi' follows last year's single 'GLY', a smash with Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music and Sian Eleri on BBC Radio 1, which came with remixes by Hot Chip and DJ Boring. Catching Flies' critically acclaimed debut album 'Silver Linings' was released in 2019 with Future Music describing it as "A brilliantly eclectic record...a moving journey that will last long in the memory", Clash Magazine praised the LP's "killer beats" and "artfully orchestrated introspection", whilst London In Stereo mentioned it's "exceptional production". Other press coverage for the album included The Guardian, Complex, Nowness, i-D Magazine, Dazed & Confused, Electronic Sound and The Line of Best Fit. 'Silver Linings' was followed by a remix album featuring versions of tracks reimagined by DJ Seinfeld, Laurence Guy, Ron Basejam, Jehst, Blu, Grandbrothers and more. Press support and acclaim came from Mixmag, DJ Mag, Crack Mag, Dummy Mag and artist support from the likes of Caribou, Mall Grab, Solomun, Damian Lazarus and more. His tracks have also been championed by Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Jamz Supernova and Pete Tong at BBC Radio 1; Gideon Coe, Gilles Peterson, Lauren Laverne, Mary Anne Hobbs, Nemone, Tom Ravenscroft at BBC 6 Music; in the US by Zane Lowe at Beats 1, and DJs from KCRW, Kiss Fresh, NTS, Rinse FM, Triple J and Worldwide FM.

Catching Flies tours this autumn, with headline dates in the US, a special guest date with Odesza and support for Bob Moses across Europe, ending with a show at Koko in London. 'Oi' is set to feature on his second album, scheduled to be announced later this year.
