Baeka aka P. A Qvick, Zapfe and Dorian return to Piston Recordings with the fantastic, ‘Live For Today EP’ which follows their last effort here ‘Bring It Back, Your Love EP’. Named after the 70s underground artist, Baeka Buick, they started out some years ago with a view to create their own brand of psychedelic house music. Now, they’re one of Sweden’s finest acts, with a style that fuses, dub-jazz, dub-house, cut-up-disco and basically, cut-up-everything. They’ve been unleashing their brand of psychedelia since 2003 and have amassed an impressive back catalogue on several labels. Great to see them back once again.

‘Live For Today’ opens the release, offering up a vibrant deep house groove that will keep the floors busy no doubt. Tight beats, percolating percussions and a deep subby bassline are joined by catchy vocals and plucky chords. The track evolves beautifully, with various synths adding character and making this a must have no doubt. ‘Feel The Grooves’ ramps up the energy and the tempo with a pacey groove which features chunky kicks and sharp percussions. A solid groovy bassline takes control of that ass while an intriguing vocal and stabby synths grab attention. Proper club vibes not to be missed. ‘We Could Be’ concludes the EP with a tight percussive intro and broken beats. Upfront chords play out a dancey rhythm as cool vocals are introduced. The track explores various layers of sound, adding instrumental elements as it goes which add depth to the groove. The vocal transforms into a cacophony of sound which draws us in deeper. A superb slice that will not disappoint.
