Fresh off the back of his last effort for Piston Recordings – Just Go EP, Bninjas return to the label with a fine display of deep house music in the form of the superb two tracker, Twice As Much. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Bninjas continues to offer up top-notch quality productions across several labels. We always get excited when his latest works come through the office and we look forward to more.

Twice As Much opens the release with a smooth, loungy vibe which is roughed up on the edges with cool vinyl FX. Chunky beats and rhythmic percussions enter the arrangement, setting us loose on the floors and shakin’ that booty to some deep, growling basses. The main organic flavour of the groove is thanks to the infectious chords which ebb and flow beautifully throughout, creating a trippy sequence for the late-night sessions. Plans concludes the release, opening with a nice punchy beat and shuffling hat combi. Groovy chords modulate effortlessly, settling into the construction in a dominant position as wonky basses deliver a solid low-end. An infectious, melodic note sequence comes through in the final act, topping off a superb slice that will not disappoint.
