We released Travis' original version of "Redbone" (a cover of the Childish Gambino song) in March. In it, he brought some of his universally-loveable deepness to GU. It had beats like Nuyorican Soul-era MAW and live bass & Fender Rhodes straight out of the West-Coast deep house playbook. It was a hit with DJs as diverse as Terry Farley, PAX, Miane and Melanie Ribbe. But, as much as we love that version, we wanted one that had a more nailed-on 4 to the floor groove and asked Kevin McKay to work his magic with it. For us, it's up there with his Brett Rubin remix or his single with Notelle & Eppers ("On My Own").
