For the next EP on the german imprint, Dance Petrol Records welcomes the newest addition to their label community: Hiatt dB! Born in San Antonio and based in New Orleans, the american multitalent is known for his eclectic selections as a DJ, spot on productions and the work on his own imprint ‚Mystery Zone Records‘! Always on his mission to champion the sounds and styles of the American Gulf South, Hiatt dB delivers the right mix between vintage and modern house, breaks, acid, disco, funk and boogie. Combining all these influences from the roots the region, he joins DPR with the EP ‚Jazz Freak‘!
Living up to its name, the lead track builds on an extended piano stab frenzy, absolute hihat extravaganza and a frenatic percussion explosion, that just keeps on escalating. Fully loaded and ready to tear down the dancefloors, the second track of Hiatt dB on the EP, 'New Stars‘, continues with freaky piano action combined with manic vocal samples molded to an ever rising wave of energy that just keeps on breaking, rising and exploding.
Going even further, the two sample loaded heaters are accompanied by remixes from Redance and Jorginho Joao! Fellow New Orleans resident Redance puts the original into a more housy field, introducing evolving pads, cheeky vocals, morphing Hiatts track into a slow burner that keeps on giving. Going even crazier on the sample and introducing some gnarly synth lines, Jorginho Joao returns on the remix biz on his own imprint, remaining true to his signature style of deep house and closes this well rounded collection of house goodness.
