Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Sledger to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Belarus, Dmitriy Nekrasov aka Sledger first emerged in 2014 with a string of releases via C28 Situate Audio. Recognized for his progressive sound, the Minsk resident quickly earned the praise of M.I.K.E Push, Max Graham and more, eventually leading to projects for Balkan Connection's BC2, Clinique Recordings and Mistique Music. Now following a one-year hiatus, Sledger adds Dopamine White to his resume with ‘Metropolis', alongside remixes from Findike and CJ Peeton.
Beginning with the pulsating hypno grooves of the original mix, Sledger marries fluid rhythms with trippy effects and radiant atmospheres. Concise at under six minutes in length, evolving percussive arrangements add nicely to its mediative pulse, before shifting energy into a captivating break. Understated in nature, the centrepiece delights with shimmering arrays, perfectly complementing emerging effects as the groove drops for a charged finale.
Making his label debut and providing the first remix is Findike. Born in Germany and now based in Turkey, Emrah Findik aka Findike has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. With a discography just shy of six hundred credits, the Istanbul resident has found a home on several long-standing imprints, including Another Life Music, Bonzai Progressive, BC2, Mystic Carousel Records and his own Findike Records imprint. Now following a contribution to Soundteller's ‘Vibrant Vibeland' Vol. 18 collection, Findike debuts on Dopamine White with a groovy rendition of ‘Metropolis'. Engaging from the outset, powerful kicks and rhythmic pulses converge for a fluid foundation, while hypnotic percussion and swirling sonics bring texture to the groove. Building a dramatic narrative across the first act, trippy effects and sheets of noise unite for heady moments leading into the second of two breaks. The centrepiece delights with its timeless appeal, where rippling arps eventually melt down to a cloud of colourful effects, as the beats drop for a huge finale.
The release concludes with CJ Peetron also making his label debut and providing the final interpretation of ‘Metropolis'. Hungarian born but now based in Ireland, CJ has compiled an impressive discography over his near fifteen-year career. ICONYC, Dynamica, Massive Harmony Records and Stellar Fountain have been primary landing spots, where his deep progressive sound has flourished. Now presenting his first production of 2022, CJ debuts on Dopamine White with a powerful take on ‘Metropolis'. Taking a cue from the original, CJ crafts a shapely groove anchored by broken beats and striking stabs. Gaining momentum across the first act, the piece flows through waves of spine-tingling effects, before shifting energy into a haunting break. Otherworldly in nature, its hypnotic state of mind melts down into meditative lines, percolating with each successive loop, before a timely drop reveals the powerful breakbeats for a magical dance floor moment. An inspired remix from CJ which rounds out strong Dopamine White debuts for himself, Findike and Sledger. Highly recommended.
