Kicking things off is our New York homeboy, Feygin. 2010 was a great year for our US brother. Having kicked off the year remixing X-Press 2, and releasing music on Darkroom Dubs, Safari Numerique and Suara, Feygin also appeared on our very own "The Wicked Crew" EP, alongside Jairo Catelo and Afrilounge. Having been blown away by his work, we soon invited him back for his very own release, "Le Floor". ¶"El Bistec" sees Feygin treading the deeper path once again. Bringing delicate organic beats and percussion together with smooth pads and keys, he creates a beautifully relaxed atmosphere. Its looped vocal and string-swept break add a hypnotic and golden touch. Keeping the limelight on fresh talent, we invite Marco Effe to give us his take on "El Bistec". Having had an equally successful 2010, with releases on Break New Soil, SCI+TEC, Rawthentic Music, Cecille and Bla Bla, Marco continues that roll by injecting some classic Chicago workmanship into the original to create a great tool. ¶When all about us are doing their thing, we can always rely on Darlyn Vlys to be doing it that little bit different. Coming off the back of a groundbreaking year that has seen him release on Get Physical, Sincopat, Upon You, Perspectiv and Climatic Sound, Darlyn's success can be attributed to his unique ability to combine soulfulness and drive, together with intelligent vocal samples. ¶On "Pirouette" Darlyn teams up with, Oscar Sala. Fresh from releases on Material, Suruba and Blackrose, he joins forces to create this gorgeously funky and rhythmic soundtrack, with its cheeky organ riff and horn stabs playfully tussling with its smooth R&B vocal and weighty bassline. On remix duty here is Italian sensation Giuseppe Cennamo. The District Raw label boss is still flying high following his recent Desolat debut, and that confidence can be heard in his remix of "Pirouette". Tight, dirty and downright jackin', Giuseppe's "Al Right' mix is set for big things over the coming weeks. ¶As if this were not enough, Darlyn and Oscar also give us the awesome "Trampoline". More dueling instruments here, as the mighty Hammond takes on the riffin' Accordion, with both complementing the other perfectly.
