All tracks written & produced by Eddie 'EZ' Matos & John 'Roc' Mateo. Recorded @ Final Cut, NYC. Published by Glasgow underground music.
In the summer of '97, Mateo and Matos had built themselves a reputation as two of New York's most dynamic and forward-thinking producers. They were responsible for a stream of underground hits on labels like Nitegrooves, Freeze, Spiritual Life, Fourth Floor, and their Final Cut imprint. These 12"s had brought them A-list DJ fans like Francois K, Louie Vega, Roger Sanchez, CJ Mackintosh and Danny Tenaglia. But, without any radio hits, their standing amongst DJs did little to bring their sound to the average music fan. 'New York Rhythms' was to change all that.
Their transition from 12" masters to album producers was an instant success. House heads couldn't get enough of their raw cocktail of hypnotic grooves and disco moments cut up with the odd slow jam. Standout moments include the singles 'Release The Rhythm' and 'Happy Feelin' (as featured on Farley & Heller's Ministry of Sound album, "Late-night Sessions").
