Palm Skin Productions - AKA versatile musician, producer, and DJ Simon Richmond (whose CV includes Mo' Wax, Depeche Mode, REM, Pulp, Neneh Cherry, and The Bays) - announces his new album 'Other Times' alongside lead single "Rule of 12ths".

Following his debut single on Tru Thoughts - the powerfully emotive "The Sword Will Die"- an eleven-minute immersion that melds pastoral piano, mid-tempo drums, pulsing organic techno influences and bucolic ambient textures; 'Other Times' acts as an antithesis to this release. Digging into his own reservoir of archived sessions, recordings, and unused fragments of sounds, the new album is built around these select snippets to create instant beats spontaneously..

Explaining the concept around "Rule of 12ths", Simon says "I love grooves where the music doesn't necessarily cycle round in an even loop with the beats. When it works, a less predictable musical cycle keeps the nod moving forwards through the bar and adds to the feeling there's something organic going on. The Rule of 12ths is the rate by which a body of water rises and falls through a tidal cycle. It also sounds like the name of a be-bop jazz scale technique."
