On Saccades et Paroxysmes, his new EP on Denkfabrik, Nicolas Bougaieff precariously balances haunting piano loops and dense live electronics. Improvisations by French pianist Justine Ekhaut are melted down in a series of electronic textures. The tension and quick movement of 'Saccade' tracks are contrasted by the deep elation of the 'Paroxysme' tracks. Bougaieff explains that the record 'reflects personal experiences where I explored relationships by instinct, following my curiosity, and trying to make sense of it all a couple years later'. The EP, recorded and produced in the summer of 2017, follows up his 2016 album Les Sauvageries where he first combined classical instruments and dystopian club music.
