You know how some things you find to be delicious may taste completely disgusting to other people? Like cilantro, it's a fact that some people taste SOAP when they eat cilantro. I dont know the exact science behind it, but I've read it has to do with genetics and your tongue: some folks have a variation in a group of olfactory-receptor genes that allows them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavored aldehydes in cilantro leaves. It's a matter of personal preference; my grandmother for example, she will only eat strawberry ice cream, won't touch chocolate or vanilla, if it aint strawberry she don't want it. Same goes for music, you may find a track to be fkn incredible and the person standing right next to you could hate it. But unlike pre existing genetic conditions, one can learn to love a record they once hated. Music can grow on you.
DRONES & ICE CREAM CONES is one of those sleeper records that may not turn you on at first listen, but play it loud at a packed club and there is no denying this tune hits a nerve with the real house heads. An absurdly original dance track, DRONES & ICE CREAM CONES doubles down on that euphoric feeling you get when shoulder to shoulder in a sea of dripping wet dancers, bouncing in unicen to a universal groove. This is the connection a seasoned producer can create between DJ and dancefloor, this is what makes Kenny Summit's productions timeless. Subtle percussion changes, layer upon layer of intricate chords, and that haunting vocal that reminds me of PM Dawn's Set Adrift on Memory Bliss. And for those who dont like cilantro and want a more dubby experience, Good For You Records All Star J Paul Getto delivers a thumpin stripped down remix with his patented jackin style. Enjoy your ice cream and we'll see you on the flip side.
