Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the new year by welcoming Tuxedo to the label for this debut single. With a career that spans well over a decade, the Polish artist lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases via John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings, Balkan Connection, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and his own Electronic Tree imprint. The Gdansk resident has also gained considerable acclaim for his collaborative project Fluente. Operating in conjunction with fellow countryman Monojoke, the duo has showcased their work on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound. Continuing to pursue solo endeavors as 2022 begins to take shape, Tuxedo adds Dopamine White to his resume with ‘Wield', alongside remixes from Andres Moris and Rikken.
Timeless in style, Tuxedo's Original version sets the tone with warm grooves and hazy atmospheres. A storyboard of wavy arps, neatly manicured percussion and buoyant rhythms continue to build the narrative, eventually revealing a series of buzzing effects which initiates the main break. As the centrepiece evolves so does its emotive appeal, with nostalgic chord changes and pixie-like melodies descending over a bed of warm bass tones, before a tasteful build sparks a classy drop and suitably stirring finale.
Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of ‘Wield' is Andres Moris. Based in Argentina, Andres Moris has been touted as one of his country's fastest rising progressive house talents. Although less than two years into his production career, the Cordoba resident has already earned the support of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J, while landing releases via Balkan Connection, Droid9, Movement Recordings, Or Two Strangers and Sound Avenue. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Andres now makes his Dopamine White debut with a powerful take on ‘Wield'. Opting for a bigger, more peak-time approach, the Argentinean artist focuses on a strong rhythmic narrative, with layers of hip-swinging percussion and buoyant tonal themes fueling its infectious drive. Clocking in at two magical minutes, the main break resonates with great strength, juxtaposing shape shifting atmospheres over emotive arps and warm sub bass, onwards to a driving finale.
The release concludes with Rikken also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Wield'. The German artist first emerged in 2018 with releases via Incepto Deep and Superordinate Music, before going on to land projects with Droid9, Future Avenue and Soundteller Records across the next three years. Now adding Dopamine White to his resume, Rikken debuts on the label with a serene rendition of ‘Wield'. As the track gets underway balmy beats and a rolling groove make for a perfect balance of warmth and drive. Electric pulses layer the fluid framework as dreamy arps, wispy effects and placid pads steal the air. The narrative continues to evolve across the main break with tranquil toplines gently building over meditative beats, before a quiet calm provides a segue into an effervescent finale.
