Budapest based DJ, producer Peter Koren marks his Piston Recordings debut with the superb, Highflyer EP. For the last few years, Peter has been carving out a niche for himself within the electronic music scene, he’s already enjoyed several releases on various labels and his talents look set to thrive. He also goes by the aliases of Norek and Rhodema, with each moniker focussing on different genres and styles. Great to have him on board and we hope to see more from him soon.

The EP kicks off with the title track, Highflyer, and straight away we’re captured by the smooth, well-rounded kick drum which is joined by exotic percussions and crispy hats. A catchy piano chord is introduced alongside a plucky and extremely infectious bassline which will get the floors moving. An Easy Day is up next with its organic fuelled intro, featuring a raw, gritty piano chord and tight drum arrangement. Delicate Rhodes notes contrast well, adding character to the groove. Wonderfully rich and tonal, this one is not to be missed. Rounding out the release we have, Friends. A more laid-back groove than its predecessors, you can definitely find yourself chilling out to this groove. Subtle melodies are laid over a deep bassline as atmospheric pads combine with organic percussions. A top-notch cut no doubt.
