Shonamalanga is the tale of an abandoned lover, not left behind owing to love lost but left behind due to circumstances. Skandal speaks of a love so strong that it transcends feelings of loneliness and abandonment. It withstands distance and time. The lady left behind when her sweetheart finds work in the city and has to live there in order for them to have a bright future finds it hard to count down the days till they meet again but she keeps her hope alive by thinking of all the ways the lovebirds can stay connected and in tune with each other in the meantime.
