'I Got This Feeling', originally released on New Jersey-label Music Station, rarely leaves Sankt Göran's record bag. A gem that holds none but good qualities.
Roland Clark, producer and singer of Urban soul, is best known for 'I Get Deep' on Shelter Records where he lays down one of house musics most classic spoken vocals, also used in Fatboy Slim's 'Song for Shelter'. His feature on Armand Van Helden's 'Flowers' unveiles the full potential of Roland's falsetto. This track, like many of Rolands own productions under various aliases, holds that magic combination we love the most ' a solid groove, great arrangement and a gospel of love.
When founding The Free Spirit Society it came natural to ask Mr Clark to do another take at the track. We also asked our friends Axel Boman and Genius of Time to give Roland a special treat, so did label A&R Sankt Göran.
On the A-side, renowned deep-house duo Genius of Time takes a few steps uptempo. Stripping the melodics of this one, leaving Roland solo floating on a querky bassline surrounded by their patented cosmic universe. On the flipside, Axel Boman adds moody chords and trippy dub effects, giving the track the baby-making-treat it deserves. Sankt Göran's remix takes it back close to the original, a steady 707 beat, deep bassline and some filtered rhodes that evolves as the track progresses. A heavyweight remix package that will stay in many record bags for a long time!
The Free Spirit Society is a new house music label by Sankt Göran and Olle Norås, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Producer and foremost dj Sankt Göran is known from record labels like Bear Funk Gold and Solar Disco among others. He has also handled some pressings of his own, disco-edit imprint Västkustska Ryggdunkarsällskapet and last years reissuing of forgotten 'Slobban EP' on his label 'Sankt Göran Presenterar'.
Sculpture artist and music lover Olle oversees the musical versatility of the label, aswell as giving the music its proper packaging.
