I am never happier and more excited than when I get to release a debut EP from an artist. I got sent these demos and immediately knew they were destined for release. There is a rawness and intensity that sometimes comes with a level of naivety and I can hear that present in these tracks. When you are near the beginning of your production journey I think you inevitably write more with feeling than anything else and I think that is why these tracks work so well. Mariiin is a dynamite DJ and obviously has a fantastic ear for groove and what will work on the dance floor but I know from experience that being a great DJ doesn't always translate into being a great producer. Fortunately, in Mariiin's case it certainly has and in turn we all get the joy of experiencing these tracks. Wonderful news! We decided to reach for a remix for the B2 and I turned to label stalwart and close friendGuava for the goods. He turned one out in typical Guava style. Twisting and turning your mind as you listen. It's a wild old ride. I've been sitting on these for a good few months now and I can't wait to share them with the world. Big shouts to Mariiin for coming through with such a sick first EP. I wish mine had been half as good as this :D
