Dopamine White

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White finds the label presenting new interpretations of Dany Dz's ‘Stolen Dreams' EP. Originally released in October of 2020, the two-track showcase found the Argentinean artist presenting some of his finest ever work, with the title selection immediately finding a spot in his Beatport Best Sellers chart. Now revisiting the release, Dopamine White invites Christian Monique, Dowden, Ewan Rill and Jorge Viana to reimagine the tracks for 2021.

Getting the release underway and providing the first interpretation of ‘Stolen Dreams' is Christian Monique who makes his label debut. As one of Italy's most recognized progressive house producers, Christian lays claim to an extensive discography highlighted by releases on 3rd Avenue, Another Life, Droid9, Nature Rec and Soundteller records. Also a favourite of the genre's premiere tastemakers, Christian now makes his Dopamine White debut with a stunning rendition of ‘Stolen Dreams'. Fluid rhythms, pulsating grooves and driving percussion set the course for this peak time journey. Mounds of perfectly contoured bass roll forward with momentous swing, as striking electronics, playful arps and tense atmospheres smoothly shift energy into an expansive break. Cinematic and poignant, the centrepiece furthers the emotional narrative, with a heartfelt canopy of pads building anticipation over a bed of rolling percussion and warm bass, perfectly setting up a charged finale.

Also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Stolen Dreams' is Dowden. As one of Canada's premiere progressive house talents, Dowden has earned the support of top international DJs such as Armin Van Buuren, Guy Manztur and John OO Fleming, while finding a home on Beatfreak, Clubsonica, Mango Alley and JOOF Recordings. Now making a welcome Dopamine White debut, Dowden turns in a peak-time take on ‘Stolen Dreams'. Smooth yet commanding, the creation flows through a storyboard of galloping grooves, icy overlays and sweeping effects, before shifting energy into a grandiose break. Cavernous and tense, the centrepiece is nostalgic in nature, projecting waves of emotion as hazy harmonics and spine-tingling chord changes set up a groovy final movement.

The first interpretation of ‘A New Dawn' is provided by the release's third debutant, Ewan Rill. The Russian artist and Sever Records boss has been a mainstay of the progressive house underground since first appearing in 2011 with a release on Balkan Connection. Now a decade later he stands as one of the genre's most prolific artists, with a discography of more than 1250 credits and appearances on esteemed imprints such as Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Now continuing what has been a great year, Ewan debuts on Dopamine White with a heady rendition of ‘A New Dawn'. Always a creative remixer, the Russian artist reworks the groove into a momentous wave of energy, nicely accented with spacey effects and arpeggiated fragments. It's mystical narrative slowly draws you in as the first act evolves, perfectly setting up a melodic break, which should not only command the full attention of your dance floor, but perfectly sets up a commanding drop and energetic finale.

The release concludes with label artist Jorge Viana returning and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘A New Dawn'. Having made his label debut in September of last year with the ‘Encélados' EP, the Argentinean artist now follows releases for Aletheia Recordings and Mango Alley with a powerful interpretation of ‘A New Dawn'. Taking a cue from the original, Jorge reshapes the groove for a pure progressive feel, while clattering percussion and striking melodies forge a path into the main break. Reflective and trippy, it's a unique interlude, creating an air of anticipation as waves of melody and noise unite for a timely crescendo and heavy drop. Perhaps one of Jorge's biggest remix productions to date, it caps off an excellent update for Dany Dz's ‘Stolen Dreams' EP. Don't miss it!
