Duwayne Motley caught our ears with his crisp live house sound on labels we love like Large, Salted, iRecordings & Moulton. Here he teams up with vocalist Zandrina to recreate Eddy Grant's 1979 song, Walking On Sunshine. Although Grant first recorded the song, it didn't become popular until 1982 when Arthur Baker's recorded it as Rockers' Revenge; his version with vocals by Donnie Calvin and a remix from John "Jellybean" Benitez hit the top of both the US & UK charts. Motley eschews Baker's post-disco style for more original 70s flavours, wrapping Zandrina's sassy vocals up in funky clavs, pianos & soaring strings. Delicious.
