Crave Tapes is thrilled to announce the release of the debut album “Anfang vom Ende” by the Frankfurt based Band Babes of Enola Grey. Heavily influenced by dark post punk, the album grants not only a cold wave sound inspired by the music of the eighties but even a sweaty, wasted dancefloor feeling, a disillusioned no-future attitude and everything in between. While songs like “Nachtschicht” or “Narben” with vague melodies and resigned lyrics dive deep into the mood of urban melancholy and “Stadt der Tauben” or “Sigil” provide an angry attitude. Others like “Ja” and “Homo Sapiens” push hard, confronting the listener with a paradox message of euphoria and cynicism, groove and frustration. Completely recorded at home and produced by the two members of the band, the album testifies by its sound aesthetic to the love of imperfection and deviance which Deborah Vision (Bass, Synths, Vocals) and Fabian van Castorp (Guitar, Vocals) share.
