In the fickle, competitive and uncompromising world of dance music there is often little time to look at life outside the scene, let alone maintain a social conscious. DJs, however, are largely creative, sensitive individuals who have to be completely in touch with their surroundings in order to bring the right sounds to the public each weekend. While dance music is about escapism for many, the new single from Roog and Greg directly addresses what is happening in our world in an intelligent and thought-provoking way in the new release Wicked World

For those living outside the Netherlands, the murder of Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh (a distant relative of Vincent van Gogh) by an extremist in 2004 made a big impact socially. It was an example of the further erosion of freedom of speech, and had a profound effect on Hardsoul's Roog & Greg. In a long email to singer Anita Kelsey, they expressed their concerns about the state of the world. Anita was so inspired and moved she put pen to paper and came up with some brilliant and timeless lyrics.

As a quick background, Anita Kelsey is a full-time writer (signed to BMG Music Publishing) and vocalist. She burst onto the scene with her first album called Sunship. Then she got into dance music with the hit Shed My Skin by D*Note (Perfecto) and the track Million Miles which was licensed to Defected and supported by prominent DJ's such as Pete Tong, Pete Heller, Timo Maas, Pete Gooding. She has worked with top house producers Rui Da Silva, Rene Amesz and TDR and now she teams up with Holland's No 1 production outfit, Hardsoul.

Wicked World has already appeared on DJ Roog's Sound Of Love And Dedication 3 and Fedde Le Grand Sessions on Ministry Of Sound, and now it gets a full release on R&G Electronics. The package comes with mixes from Dutch superstar Fedde le Grand, Funkagenda, Belocca and the team of Greg, Jeroenski and Roog.

Wicked World contains a real message, melancholic but also hopeful - you had better be listening!
