We welcome Angolan-Portuguese DJ, producer Nzagi to Piston Recordings with the superb, Got The Blues EP. Nzagi first hit the decks in 1995 after spending the late 80’s and early 90’s listening to the new wave of electronic music. He went on to study music production and in 2002 he started to churn out his own sounds. A pleasure to have him on board.

The Original Mix of Got The Blues sets the tone with a solid deep house vibe. Punchy kicks and slicing hats join a dancey bassline and ambient voices while jazzy pianos add an extra spice to the groove. Up first on remix duties we have Piston stalwart Accatone. After a bit of a break, Jose decided to set up his own label called Sicut Erat, with the first release being his fantastic album – Potentially Different. Here, his remix of Got The Blues settles us into a deep, trippy groove thanks to plucky basses, tight beats and expertly crafted FX on the vocal. Piston label boss, Rogerio Martins, takes a step back from office duties to deliver a top-notch remix on Got The Blues. We don’t get to hear the results of his studio wizardry too much these days, but when we do, we know it’s a special time. As ever, we’re treated to a vibrant, fresh sounding deep house groove filled with splashy percussions, powerful basses and upfront chords. The Bad Guy finishes the release with a funky club fuelled groove. Tight beats and strong bass plucks join flurries of rhythmic percussions, classic hi strings and filtering chords.
