Maxzim, Maqar and Lana are all from Yekaterinburg, a tough industrial city in Russia. It is a harsh place to stay. As I'm writing this, the temperature is -25ºC. Maxzim & Maqar work in IT and the oil industry, respectively, and as an escape, they make emotional beats for their own Toiled imprint. Together with vocalist Lana Domire, they have made "The Moment". It is a beautifully understated slice of slow-burning deep house, the kind of thing I can imagine gently igniting an afters dancefloor as the sun comes up. That said, it is by no means a floor-filler. For that, we have asked Sam Dexter to flex his heater skills on it. He has delivered us a brilliant synth propelled journey filled with hypnotic rhythms and delicious arpeggios. It is up there with our favourite current jams from Gorge and Mihai Popoviciu.
