Jay Gunning's new three-track EP is an immaculately produced house record, placing himself and the Glasgow label Jackie Knows Karate Records as one of the most exciting combinations within Scotland's dance music scene. The record is Jay's much anticipated debut release and early listens have caused a buzz. This is the label's ninth in an impressive string of releases. Modern House and Tech influenced Jack Da Ripper is one for peak time.

Although this is Jay Gunning's debut release it has already picked up an impressive amount of hype as it was picked up by Jaguar and played on her BBC Introducing show live on BBC Radio 1 which gained the record many praises and caused the upcoming release to become highly anticipated.

The title track is a bass driven monster with rolling synths combined with hypnotic vocals and punchy highs. 'What Ya Doing? (Something)' continues this theme focusing on a hypnotic vocal chop mixed with a piercing arpeggio which leads to a longer build giving the dancefloor time to breath before bursting into the intensity of the final drop. The Fear (Runaway) completes this trilogy of brilliance with a much heavier bass and techy percussion which builds to a crescendo in the tracks 4th-minute and into the home straight to close out the EP.

Glasgow native Jay Gunning has evolved over the last six years from his early days as a young selector digging through his fathers record collection to a highly skilled purveyor of the dancefloor combining his love of soulful house with today's modern house and tech house records, Jay is an artist not to underestimate. Jay's own brand 'Attic Room Sessions' has become somewhat of a viral sensation as he started it out of necessity. Jay being underage and unable to enter a club brought the club to him in the form of his parents attic having parties when they were out of town.

The record is a perfect example of the labels philosophy of 'No BS, Just Pure Music' so its no surprise to see Jay's debut release land on the highly respected label with previous releases earning support from the likes of Skream and Patrick Topping
