Madrid based artist Jesus Gonzalez aka Jacob Singer returns with the superb Alisio, following on from his fantastic remix for Ivan Aliaga’s Nocturne EP. Jacob started out in music playing the guitar and was heavily influenced by rock and metal bands for many years. After he discovered electronic music however, he soon realised that this is where his passion lay. Now a veteran on the progressive scene he has churned out many noteworthy releases on various labels and it’s always great to have him here.

Alisio unleashes a dark, menacing groove, compiled of eerie, haunting FX and a thunderous kick drum. Beautifully crafted percussions create industrialized patterns, adding a dystopian vibe. An underlying, rumbling bass, fills the spectrum, pounding out chest thumping waves. A teasing of bright, melodic pads flutters through the groove, being engrossed by the darkness. Powerful, relentless stuff that is not to be missed.

Hen carries on the dark theme, churning out an arena style kick drum that powers through the groove effortlessly. Techno-themed chord stabs distort and twist as swathes of percussions create a solid rhythmic flow. The dark vibe deepens as sinister voices come through. On the break, the heavy bass dominates as gritty sequences emerge before that chords return to take control for the duration. Great stuff and a must have.
