Back in 2019, in pre-pandemic times - when parties were still a thing and we were all happy and carefree - our main man DJ Satelite joined Cortega and his gang in Dakar for an epic edition of the Afro-House themed ElectrAfrique party. The day after setting the Senegalese capital
on fire, both of them headed to the legendary Karantaba studio for a dope session with the kora master Noumoucounda Cissoko and drummer Aba Diop.

Noumou, who comes from a famous griot family and who's been bringing his traditions and legacy into futuristic musical terrain seamlessly delivered vocals and kora strings, while Aba, who plays drums with electro-sabar band Guess Guiss Bou Bess provided the tamani talking drum flavour, while DJ Satelite and Cortega co-arranged and co-produced the song.

Kan Tolo means 'let's party' in bambara, Noumoucounda's mother tongue. Through the song, he calls on the audience to join in and celebrate, giving shoutouts to our musical fam across the Continent, from Angola to Senegal.
