Eddie Fowlkes closes 2020 with the fourth volume of his Knuckle Head series.
One of Detroit Techno’s founding fathers and Technosoul innovator, Eddie Fowlkes has had a busy year despite the global pandemic. Amongst other things, he re-launched his City Boy Music label, joined Jeff Mills and Jessica Care Moore for The Beneficiaries project on Axis Records, collaborated with Loco Dice on the ‘D-Town Playaz EP’, hosted a show on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, spoke to Resident Advisor for a candid RA Exchange and most recently delivered a stunning mix for Tsugi magazine’s podcast series.
With no sign of letting up, he now returns with two hot new cuts for ‘Knuckle Head Vol.4’. ‘Check It Out’ is a stripped back groover, which builds its layers with a housey piano, ethereal vocal, “check it out refrain” and tracky beats to hypnotic effect. While ‘Feeling Fine’ delivers tribal drums, deep bass and phat syncopated rhythms to get the party started.
