Marking his Play Records debut, UK producer R.oK gives us an utterly dynamic house track with French Fancy, and then shakes expectations with its softer, more playful companion track, Be Gentle.
The artist finds inspiration in the unusual. While French Fancy is a clear-stated homage to French house, he says, 'Be Gentle reminds me of 70s cartoons. The synth line was based on that idea.'
A mix of grinded guitar samples and washed out keyboards, French Fancy was one of our first choices to include on our Play at ADE 2020 compilation.
