First up on this sampler, which marks the Eton Messy boys’ third foray into compilation waters, is Ros T with the belting ‘Hold On’. Taking in elements of 90s Techno, noughties Minimal and modern day Deep house - the track throbs with a freshness that’s rare to find.

‘Feel Good’ then follows on quite brilliantly, bringing elements of classic Techno to the fore once again, through it’s threaded acid lines; but Makree’s offering also dials up the House element a notch, whilst introducing some wonderfully twisted, metallic stabs that take us right back to those early nights at Fabric and The End.

Donny Rotten grabs the baton for the third leg, weaving in shades of glistening disco-funk and squeezing everything through a delicious, French-Touch style filter; whilst all the time managing to retain that pacey House energy.

Josh Parkinson’s ‘What’s Next’ is a fitting middle marker for the LP, as his effort represents the inimitable sound that characterised the Eton Messy boys’ sound back in their early days; but there’s a lightness of touch here that transports that nostalgic vibe into a 2020 setting, bringing it bang up to date.

Then after a brief softening of mood, Tom Symonds is on hand to ever so gently bring us back up again with his NY inspired, garage-tinged Houser, backd-ropped by warm wavey pads, sub-aquatic bass and echo-chamber vocal samples.

Continuing our final run-up to the release’s close - Farsi hits us with waves of flagrant atmosphere, with his stripped-back broken-beat driven stunner - ‘Freeda’.

So now poised perfectly for the LP’s conclusion, the final furlong is handled with serious aplomb by Ray, who harks back to the hey-day of Florida breaks with ‘Wasting Time’, but at the same time he delivers his own unique cocktail of tripped-out organs, hazy keys and vocal samples that positively burst with sunshine soul; making for one hell of a closing statement from this exciting new talent and indeed from the enigmatic Bristol collective.

Even though this Eton Messy collection is a bite-size 7 tracks long, by this point we feel like we’ve sweated it out and danced our socks off for a 7 hour Garmer marathon and this final number is our endlessly satisfying and life-affirming ‘one-more tune’...
