Keysound Recordings are proud to announce the return of Otik to the release schedule. The Bristol-born, east London resident contributes two powerful, emotive tracks.
“Amor” is a staple of label co-founders Dusk + Blackdown sets, that in several years has never failed to get folk running over to the booth asking “what the…?!!” in London, Denver, Montreal or Berlin sets.
While in theory an offbeat uk techno roller in the low 120bpms, what marks “Amor” out as an exceptional sculpture of sound is the volleys of layered striations that descend from above. Played in a club, it sounds like bright white shards of light are being thrown down from gaping fissures in the heavens. It never fails to bewilder and delight.
“Both of these tunes mean an awful lot to me. They each remind me of two very significant periods of my life,” illuminates Otik
Flip “Seasonal FX” is different though no less powerful. A 140bpm breakbeat roller written in the dark winter months leading up to Christmas ‘19, the chords ride an emotive groove, playing off a fragmented vocal.
“These tracks were made during polarising moods - they remind me of both a time I was very content, and a period of turmoil,” outlines Otik.
Otik has had releases on Intergraded, Gobstopper, Nous Disques, 17 Steps, Infinite Machine and of course, Keysound.
