UKR200 | 2020-09-23
Release two hundred has arrived, and what a moment for the imprint, its artists, and those who have supported the artistic expressions UKR has so carefully curated and cataloged over the last decade. Based in the United States, the label represents underground techno in its rawest form, a platform, along with UKR Special Series, that relentlessly shines a bright light on artists, each of whom has their own significant story to tell and voice to express...each voice spawning from his or her soul through musical ideas rooted in their life's experiences. Every track signed is a painting of aural textures, with light and dark elements, rhythmic cadences...fine-tuned to capture that moment where the creative process comes to fruition. These are movement pieces not for the masses but for those who search for that deeper, raw underground sound.

UKR two hundred is being released during a particularly turbulent time in the USA and the world in general. It is an era of great division, a time of upheaval, and a time to search one's soul with the highest level of self-actualization. It's a time for expressing one's thoughts and beliefs, as tensions and fears have boiled to the surface of our consciousness. For many, this is done with words, congregating in protest, and for a select few this is done with the creation of music. With the confluence of this division within society and UKR's river of flowing creativity comes a remarkable four-track EP from Kalamazoo techno legend, Black Nation Records founder, and global techno influencer Jay Denham a.k.a. 'Fade II Black'. Known as one of the second-generation Detroit techno pioneers, his works such as 'In Synch' released in 1990 on Fragile, his releases on Black Nation Records, and Disko B among others, are considered classics, and have shaped the sound of what we call techno to this day. It's a great honor for us to have Jay release this 'Reset' EP, commissioned and created specifically for this moment, a pivotal time in the history of this one-hundred-plus artist global collective.

This exceptional four-track techno 'snap-shot' of today's divisive climate is a reflection of Jay's contemplations of the world right now, a layer-cake of self-expression rooted in his techno legacy and cultural heritage....forward-thinking, pure and powerful. From the storming, deep drive in the opening track titled, 'The Reset', to the storytelling, chugging, and slightly playful vibes in 'Work This Out', to the tribal, synthy, emotive anthem qualities of future Detroit techno anthem 'BLM', and finally to the crystal clear, spiritually fervent, jewel-like elements of cathedral organ and futuristic effects in 'Jack Lite', Jay delivers one his most influential and significant works in recent years. As we celebrate UKR's 200th release we welcome you to partake on this voyage of creativity and hope that it moves you as much as it moves us. UKR aka Urban Kickz Recordings presents UKR200 Jay Denham - 'The Reset' EP.
