Ikonika is back with ‘Hollow’ EP, using a method she's been perfecting since 2017’s ‘Distractions’ LP. Taking shards of UK Drill, dancehall and grime, and turning them into subtle, hazy club bangers, which contrasts with her recent techno-indebted EP on Don't Be Afraid.

The EP starts with the grime strings and thumping kick drum of ‘Kicks Count’, followed by the gliding deep bass and organ of ‘Hollow’, then the subtle nervous cello and keys interplay of ‘Blood Tinge’.

‘A-Void’ straps skippy grime drums to bleeps and a G-Funkesque synth chorus, while ‘Body Servants’ plays a plaintive Arabic melody against a light dancehall drum pattern, with icy violins raising the tension. ‘Terminus’ closes the EP with shimmering, sad strings, contrasting with a slow, mutant reggaeton pattern and rolling drum edits over a hypnotic minimal bell melody.
