A new 2 track EP finds Clay Smith creating another sparkling musical voyage for the 78th release on Darin Epsilon's label Perspectives Digital.
An early encounter with the "Lovefest" festival fueled Clay's obsession for electronic music. From his home in Oakland overlooking San Francisco's east side bay, Clay built a studio around him with all the funds he could muster. A degree in Economics with a minor in Music from the University of California Santa Cruz provided the US producer with an opportunity to pursue his unique musical path. His debut on Happy Records under the moniker Kush Push followed as he began to find his own voice.
Ultimately under his own name, Clay Smith refined his musical perspective with a paradigm shift in sonic taste emerging out of the whole Burning Man ethos. His appearance on Perspectives earlier this year saw the "Jakarta Jam" EP showcase his skills in a remarkable debut that reached #5 in Beatport's Progressive House releases chart!
Six months later, Clay catches fire again with a dual track EP of the highest order. With a distinctive percussive pattern, "Chord" is a beautifully crafted affair that captures the attention with its richly stratified layers. Smooth chord progressions supply an emotive vibe as sustained pads add harmonic depth and white-noise power. Building in effervescent fashion, a hypnotic arpeggiated sequence blends with sumptuous vocal phrases while a powerful rasping bassline note provides menace aplenty.
