Matt Black & Chris Sterio got together along with vocalist Daniela Rhodes to conjure up the stunning In My Dreams. Matt Black returns to Bonzai Progressive with another fine slab of progressive goodness. We first saw Matt here on remix duties for The First Rebirth as part of our 25-year special remix series before he gave us the superb Mindscape back in 2017. Matt has been making music since the mid 90’s but it was when he started Segment records in 2003 that his work really began to get noticed. His music has been supported by DJ’s such as Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo and has been played on both major radio stations and internet stations such as Proton and Frisky. We welcome Chris Sterio back to BP. We last saw him here in 2018 collaborating with Downgrooves and their excellent Zen Moments. Isle Of Man based DJ and producer Chris Sterio brings his wealth of experience to this one as he always does in collaborative mode. A veteran artist with over 15 years in the progressive scene, Chris has churned out some top-quality material and, by the sounds of things, he has no desire to let up. Daniela Rhodes aka D-Vox (her DJ name) debuts on Bonzai, bringing her rich vocal to the track. Most known for her DJ skills, she has shared the decks with numerous world-renowned jocks since 2002. In recent years she is becoming increasingly more recognised for her studio skills with more the 30 collabs already. Herself, Chris and Matt scored a Beatport No.16 in May 2020 with the fantastic Out Of The Dark. Great to have her on board. A formidable trio, we hope to see more of in the future.

First up we have the Club Mix, a solid, pumping progressive mover which intros with a pumping beat and evolving bass arp. Bright pads swell up, teasing, as the groove hots up under that infectious bassline. Daniela’s voice eases in with captivating oohs before the vocal is unleashed in all its glory, providing an intriguing narrative. Trancey plucks lead to melodic pads which compliment the dreamy vocal beautifully. The break reveals more prominent plucked synths, but it’s the vocal that takes centre stage before the beats return for a powerful finale. A superb cut that will not disappoint.

The Dreamstate Dub conjures up all sorts of nostalgia thanks to its classic charm and solid, driving groove. A wonderful interpretation of the original, the focus is honed in on those hypnotic plucks and filtered synths. Punchy beats and rhythmic percussions join a powerful bassline which delivers an enthralling performance. Expertly crafted and a definite must have.

The Instrumental strips out the vocal from the original, leaving an equally powerful groove in its absence. A solid set builder for those not doing a vocal set.
