Horizon EP

Savile & Olin

Wazi Wazi
ww011 | 2012-02-15
Newcomers Savile and Olin are our first stateside signing, bringing a new strong force to the evergrowing Wazi Wazi Family. Living in Chicago, the duo draws heavily on the heritage of the birthplace of House Music, while taking inspiration from the fledging scene on our shores. Both are already finding support in Chicago's club scene, playing nights at Chicago's finest Smartbar with guests as varied Derrick Carter, MCDE, Metro Area, and Lindstrom. The EP starts with Horizon, a shimmering beauty of a track, with raw elements floating in and out of the arrangement with the finest delicacy. Neigh takes a 180 degree turn, borrowing a page from the cookbook of Mathew Jonson with dark droning synthwork and a monster of a bassline evolving into dark atmospherics. For our first Horizon remix, RWAV artist Marlow lifts the vocals up and creates a disco meets deep house monster with a masterful bounce. Goodguy Mikesh and Filburt twist Horizon into a atmospheric chord-lead boogie groove with fine notes of mid 80s synth-pop and deep house elements, creating something which fits any summer reminiscing sofa listening session. Lovely. The EP finishes with the dub-influenced 'Well, Wish' from Savile with a broken beat feel to it. Solid and flowing synthwork meander through before an arpeggiated synthbass kicks in and transforms it to a dancefloor smasher.
