Upper Regions and Pablo Splice team up for back to back remixes of two of the prominent tracks from Ki's recent EP, Soft Exchange

The remixes each take the originals into entirely new territory while following closely in the sonic footprints left by Ki.

Upper Regions tackles Soft Exchange with total abandon, flexing impressive arrangement muscles and toughening the vibe of the original mix. This one opens and closes numerous compartments where Jim Roditis re-imagines the deep tech house vibes of Soft Exchange as something truly abstract and chunky.

Pablo Splice steps up to bat and goes full electro, subjecting the vocals to robotic treatments and creating delicate whispers that take the subtle message of Soft Exchange to an intimate level. Blippy breaks, sequenced bass, booms, baps and stabs are sequenced to the brink of house-tinged machine ecstasy.

Next, Pablo flips Folding-Erased into a unique fusion of dub techno and retrowave. The beats are baked with an unmistakable 80s flair, with gated hits and machine drum feel. The synths, stabs and bass from the original mix get a minimalist re-sequencing, reminiscent of a dub techno affair, but with none of the subtlety whatsoever.

Finally, Upper Regions tags in to finish the job with his punishing version of Folding-Erased. A deceptive opening with ghostly traces of the vocal quickly swells with seismic low end presence in the bass and kick. After properly rinsing the acid lines from the original, the final polish is applied as two sets of ride cymbals slice their way across the mix, leaving a stripped down but undeniably heavy groove.
