Montreal duo HOKI make their highly anticipated return following a breakout year in 2019, which saw the release of their debut album 'Strangest Of Us All'. The indie electronic duo, which fuses the talents of producer Varti Deuchoghlian and Australian vocalist Brent McCormick, has fast garnered a reputation for crafting ballads teeming with rawness and an almost haunting vulnerability.
'King Of Hearts' is their debut EP. It comes in the form of two sumptuous original tracks. It is led by the eery, emotive title track, which captures the essence of HOKI in a blend of mesmerising atmosphere, graceful melodies and touching vocals.
‘Eve' takes a different path albeit similarly captivating. Floating on vibrant kick-drum, the track pairs a charming vocal line with deft atmospheric touches and radiant melodies.
Joining the Canadian duo on remix duty are an illustrious pairing in Berlin-based Martin Roth and Ingolstadt's Koelle. Martin Roth puts his fine touch to 'King Of Hearts', rendering a thunderous rolling interpretation that combines the entrancing power of the tantalising vocals with a lush groove. Classically trained Koelle completes the package, delivering his own standout contribution in a wavering, melodic rework of 'Eve'.
