Code Red is a new label which has been added to the Defected (ITH) stable. Run by legendary US garage and house DJ, producer and remixer DJ Spen, the Baltimore based label will continue to be A&Rd by the man best known for soulful gospel tinged releases on his Basement Boys imprint,with the added benefits that Defected can bring to the table in terms of distribution, promotion and marketing. After leaving Basement Boys, Spen decided to start a venture where he could try more experimental and raw house music to complement his soulful sound and Code Red was born. Artists working with the label include Ultra Nate, his sometime production partner Karizma, his new outfit The MuthaFunkaz and vocalist Marc Evans.
