As a child of the 80's and teenager of the 90's, Francesco Bergomi's musical introduction was at the mercy of Italo-Disco and Synth Pop. Influenced by the great Giorgio Moroder and the coming together of Italo, German and Detroit sounds, together with his father’s love of Classical and a healthy obsession with the electronic Classical reinterpretations of Walter Carlos, a future as a DJ and Producer was always in the offing.
Having supported Francesco's productions on Amazing Records, SCI+TEC boss Dubfire invited the Italian to create an ep for the label. Title track "Red Velvet Drapes" was built from an initial Synthesized arpeggio melody that Francesco had been playing during his live set. Having layered bass and percussion and manipulated it with a variety of fx, a 44min track was the outcome. Having cut that to 17 and then 6min Francesco still managed to retain the free flowing vibe of his original creation.
On the flip "Sinister Ventriloquist Dummy" ploughs a slower more minimal path. Aiming for a stripped yet powerful sound, Francesco matches a bouncy rhythm, an analogue wah-wah synth and a touch of white noise to deliver another solid cut. Digital exclusive track "Night Sky Over St. Louis" is considered the most organic of the 3 with its staccato bassline, vocal hook and swinging percussions.
