First he threw ‘Objects’ in our path, then he confronted us with a great ‘Sea Monster’. Now, for his third LP, Russian fusionist Kito Jempere lays things down in a much more pragmatic yet playful way… ‘Yet Another Kito Jempere Album’
Set for release in October this year, once again it will see the St Petersburg producer melt, smelt and blend his influences into a unique widescreen narrative and will feature collaborations and shared ideas with a whole host of friends and peers. It starts right here with ‘A King Of Comets’. Dubby, woozy and sprinkled with the right amount of cosmic elements and samples, it’s the album opener and it sets the scene implicitly.
Created through a series of live jams and sessions with his Kito Jempere Band members Lovvlovver and Noteless and cameo roles from good friends Lipelis and Gadzhi the track took a life of its own the moment Lipelis’s drum machine came to life. Several months and many processes later - including sample and synth work with legendary Russian experimental duo and Brian Eno collaborators, New Composers, some delicious bassline magic on LovvLovver’s Deckard’s Dream synth and Moog and vocals courtesy of Alexander Donskih von Romanov from legendary soviet rock-bands Zoopark and Zemlyane – ‘A King Of Comets’ was born.
A song of many players, moving parts, elements and inspirations, it’s the perfect way to the start the story of ‘Yet Another Kito Jempere Album’. Pragmatically and playfully titled, daringly and lovingly created, we’re excited to see how this unfolds…
