Higamos Hogamos pres. SPACEROCKS

Finally a new offering from vintage synth maestro Steve Webster's Higamos Hogamos offshoot project Spacerocks!

Actually, IS it new? It sounds like it was recorded by Walter Carlos or Edgar Froese using absolutely no modern equipment whatsoever. With all its key changes and weird time signatures it sounds even more retro and "proggy" sounding than the previous EP (which sounded retro and "krauty"). It's hard to find anything amongst these four tracks that sounds remotely contemporary, let alone "cutting edge" that would make it even stand out from the prog/space rock coming out in the late 70s, let alone what we're drowned in now.

Having said that, it's musically great...at times even epic. Some pieces so steeped in dreamy drama and dark depth that I'd go as far as saying outre French cosmic pioneers Heldon would have been proud to have created this back in the day.

Apparently Webster has an eBay addiction for early 80s audio gear and it would seem this yields some most refreshing results. There is definitely an appeal in hearing the sounds of these highly unfashionable and cheap harmonisers and reverbs that he's so fond of using....partly because no one else is using them.

If I were you, I would just dive right on in and let the "kosmische" teleport you away.

Higamos Hogamos / Spacerocks has had support from the sadly departed Andrew Weatherall, JD Twitch (Optimo), Trevor Jackson, Dompteur Mooner, Robi Insinna/Headman and many more
