Feelings of romance and hope imbue the spring months, as well as the music released this time of year. We're thrilled to present "Spring Selections 04," featuring four stirring new cuts by Hexlogic, White Leaf and Wassu, Stan Chetverikov, and Taglo, which capture the sentimental mood of the spring season.

After a slew of beloved original and remix contributions to our label in 2018, Hexlogic reached a new career plateau with a standout EP on Lane 8's This Never Happened imprint, this past year. We're delighted to welcome back the Ukrainian sensation, whose "Thrive" kicks off this release. A hallucinatory arpeggio weaves in and out of a rolling groove, in the early going. At the quarter turn, both the rhythm and lead arp melody begin to crescendo, as new percussive elements and backing pads are elegantly added to the soundscape. A few minutes in, during the main breakdown, the beats drop out, as a soulful vocal hook is revealed. Suddenly, the layered arpeggios explosively re-emerge to create an impactful, almost anthemic drop sequence. This is another memorable effort from one of the great new composers to emerge in the deep and progressive house global arena.

Rising talents White Leaf and Wassu, both of whom have released on Silk Music in the past, have gravitated toward the burgeoning organic house movement in recent years, so their first collaboration (on our label) was in some way fated. An "organica" affair from start to finish, their visionary "Berceuse" begins with a light tribal rhythm, as the distant echoes of an ancient civilization begin to seep into the soundscape. As the arrangement progresses, the subtle atmospheric effects begin to take shape into something more palpable, as crystalline, bell-tinged melodies and hauntingly beautiful vocal effects approach the foreground of the soundscape. The dreamlike aura of the composition never wavers; by the midpoint of the arrangement, the listener is completely transfixed with awe.

Having appeared on our last few consecutive seasonal 'Selections' releases, gifted Russian composer Stan Chetverikov has clearly carved a unique niche as a sonic craftsman of emotive downtempo sounds, and "Missing You" is no exception. Stormy low-octave pads underpin a mesmerizing array of arpeggios, which intensify as the arrangement evolves. The climactic symphony of synths subsides at the song's midpoint, revealing a series of mellifluous new themes; in the closing minute, we are treated to one last crescendo of poignant strings and synth lines, which sound truly glorious in unison.

Closing out the release, versatile Australian producer and DJ Taglo serves up his fourth label contribution with "In Your Love," his first foray into downtempo sonic terrain. A piano and reversed string motif establishes the harmonious and hypnotic essence of the tune from the song's very first moments. The listener is soon met by an equally intoxicating vocal theme, as well as a light breakbeat, which gives the arrangement a gentle, head-bobbing swing. After much suspense, the titular vocal theme finally arrives during the main breakdown and proves to be quite moving. This section is followed by a gorgeous final drop sequence, which features a euphonious harp melody.
