The story of Black Genius - they met in Los Angeles around the year 2009. House Shoes had an event at the then Fat Beats store. Georgia Anne Muldrow was the main guest. It was an intimate setting with a handful of people eagerly awaiting her performance. During the wait, Silka and Seven stumbled upon each other while browsing the vinyl section. They clicked immediately. Hours passed until finally Georgia arrived but unfortunately she had bad news, her studio caught fire that night. However she delivered a beautiful performance despite the circumstance. Who knew the night her studio burnt down would also be the night a music duo was born. Originally Black Genius was working on a full album. “The Landing” and “The Interlude” were the first tracks recorded for that album. However album plans were paused around 2011 when they joined Shafiq Husayn’s collective "The Dove Society" and began working on his album “The Loop”. During the creation of that album life sent Black Genius in different directions. Seven eventually went to Europe in 2012 joining forces with Kutmah and Ninja Tune. Silka moved to New York to create her new sound. Since her recreation she has performed with Chick Corea plus many other legendary artists. She also frequently tours in Europe and Africa. After 8 years of not speaking, Silka and Seven finally reunited in 2019. Although they are both now solo artists, they wanted to share this moment in their musical journey with the world. Available on all digital platforms. Be on the lookout for Silka’s debut album in 2020.
