Walter Ricci, classe 1989, cresce in un ambiente musicale grazie agli stimoli provenienti dal padre musicista. Si forma così con l’ascolto di ogni genere di musica ma, fin da giovanissimo, è il jazz in tutte le sue declinazioni a incuriosirlo e ad appassionarlo, dallo swing al bebop sino al contemporary jazz. Attratto dai colossi come Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet ed Ella Fitzgerald, si dedica allo studio del pianoforte specializ-zandosi da subito in tecnica dell’improvvisazione e In pochi anni lo troviamo già sui palchi dei jazz club più ambiti ad esibirsi con musicisti già noti e di rinomata esperienza.
Nel 2006 vince il “Premio Nazionale Massimo Urbani” e la sua carriera ha definitivamente inizio. E’ in quell’occasione che incontra il trombettista torinese Fabrizio Bosso, che spesso lo vorrà accanto a sè e che lo soster-rà negli anni a seguire. Nel 2007 suscita l'interesse di alcuni network internazionali e testate giornalistiche come “Jazz Magazine” e “Jazzit”, che gli dedicano diverse interviste.
Nel 2008 incontra Stefano Di Battista, con il quale si esibisce in Italia e all’estero, in Francia, Spagna, Svizzera.
Nello stesso anno la sua voce compare all’interno dell’album “Touch” di Lorenzo Tucci, uno dei batteristi jazz di maggior talento in Italia, distribuito dalla Schema Records in Giappone e in altri paesi.
Nel 2009/10 arriva l’incontro con Pippo Baudo che lo invita al programma Domenica In, sulla prima rete TV RAI, come vocalist dell’orchestra diretta da Pippo Caruso. Nelle numerosissime puntate del programma, in onda sulla prima rete nazionale, ha l’occasione di incontrare e duettare con artisti di fama internazionale, tra i quali Michael Bublè e Mario Biondi. Quest’ultimo lo invita a collaborare nel suo disco e nel suo tour. Nel frattempo collabora con Guido Pistocchi nell’album “Spring Time”.
A questo seguirà l’incontro con il sassofonista Daniele Scannapieco, con il quale realizza un omaggio ad uno dei più grandi compositori della storia: “The Cole Porter Songbook”. Nell’ottobre 2012 si esibisce, come ospite, nel quartetto di Luca Santaniello al “Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola” del Lincoln Center Di New York e nel 2015 partecipa ed arriva in semifinale al prestigioso Monk Competiotion a Los Angeles. All’inizio del 2016 Fabrizio Bosso lo chiama a partecipare stabilmente nel suo “Spiritual” con Alberto Marsico e Alessandro Minetto e incidono un album per la collana dedicata al Jazz Italiano pubblicata dall’Espresso. Tra i concerti francesi importanti troviamo: Marciac Festival, Opera di Paris, Montreaux Jazz.
A Settembre partecipa al festival internazionale New Wave Contest a Sochi, in Russia, dove si aggiudica il primo posto (ex-aequo con il rocker croato Dino) incantando il pubblico e la giuria.
Terminata l’esperienza Russa Ricci si trasferisce direttamente per un mese in Francia, dove si sta allestendo il nuovo progetto di Dédé Ceccarelli dedicato a West Side Story, del quale è la voce. Negli ultimi mesi dell’anno, tra concerti in Francia e in Italia, si dedica alla composizione e alla creazione del suo quartetto italo/francese, che vede Domenico Sanna al piano, Géraud Portal al basso e Rémi Vignolo alla batteria. A febbraio viene pubblicato per Warner Music il nuovo disco ”Eklektik” di Antonio Faraò nel quale Ricci è presente su due tracce, “News from…” accanto a Snoop Dogg e “Through the Day”. Walter Ricci, esibendosi sia con formazioni proprie che in collaborazione con artisti di chiara fama, dimostra di avere non solo la padronanza della grande tradizione dei più noti crooner d'oltre oceano ma, grazie all’ascolto senza restrizioni e all’amore senza limiti per la musica di ogni genere e tempo, di riuscire a creare uno stile personale denso di sfumature e di nuove sonorità, che spazia con grande naturalezza dal jazz al pop.
Il nuovo album “Stories” contiene 14 tracce di cui 10 brani originali e 4 cover in italiano, inglese e francese, assumendo un sound internazionale.
Tra le cover troviamo alcune grandi melodie italiane come “Guarda Che luna”, “Tu Si Na Cosa Grande” in duetto con Chiara Civello; molti sono i brani in inglese tra cui “No Doubts Left” e “This Time” con Papik.

Non poteva mancare un tributo alla città di Napoli, alla track 12 troviamo una versione di "Caruso" in duo con il gigante della chitarra Sylvain Luc.
L’artista co-scrive e arrangia i brani con Dario Rosciglione mettendo alla prova le sue qualità come autore e producer.

Walter Ricci, born in 1989, grew up in a musical environment thanks to the stimuli coming from his musician father. This is how it is formed by listening to every genre of music but, from a very young age, it is jazz in all its forms that intrigues and excites it, from swing to bebop to contemporary jazz. Attracted by the giants like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and Ella Fitzgerald, he devoted himself to the study of the piano specializing immediately in improvisation technique and in a few years we find him already on the most coveted jazz club stages to perform with already known musicians and of renowned experience.
In 2006 he won the "Massimo Urbani National Award" and his career definitely began. It is on that occasion that he meets the Turin trumpet player Fabrizio Bosso, who will often want it next to him and who will support him in the following years. In 2007 he attracted the interest of some international networks and newspapers such as "Jazz Magazine" and "Jazzit", which gave him several interviews.
In 2008 he met Stefano Di Battista, with whom he performed in Italy and abroad, in France, Spain, Switzerland.
In the same year his voice appears within the "Touch" album by Lorenzo Tucci, one of the most talented jazz drummers in Italy, distributed by Schema Records in Japan and other countries.
In 2009/10 comes the meeting with Pippo Baudo who invites him to the Domenica In program, on the first RAI TV network, as vocalist of the orchestra directed by Pippo Caruso. In the numerous episodes of the program, broadcast on the first national network, he has the opportunity to meet and duet with internationally renowned artists, including Michael Bublè and Mario Biondi. The latter invites him to collaborate on his record and on his tour. In the meantime he collaborates with Guido Pistocchi in the "Spring Time" album.
This will be followed by a meeting with the saxophonist Daniele Scannapieco, with whom he pays homage to one of the greatest composers in history: "The Cole Porter Songbook". In October 2012 he performed, as a guest, in the Luca Santaniello quartet at the "Dizzy's Club Coca Cola" at Lincoln Center in New York and in 2015 he participated and arrived in the semifinals at the prestigious Monk Competiotion in Los Angeles. At the beginning of 2016, Fabrizio Bosso calls him to participate permanently in his "Spiritual" with Alberto Marsico and Alessandro Minetto and record an album for the series dedicated to Italian Jazz published by Espresso. Important French concerts include: Marciac Festival, Opera de Paris, Montreaux Jazz.
In September he took part in the international New Wave Contest in Sochi, Russia, where he won first place (ex aequo with the Croatian rocker Dino), enchanting the audience and the jury.
After the Russian experience, Ricci moved directly to France for a month, where Dédé Ceccarelli's new project dedicated to West Side Story is being set up, of which he is the voice. In the last months of the year, including concerts in France and Italy, he devoted himself to the composition and creation of his Italian / French quartet, which saw Domenico Sanna on piano, Géraud Portal on bass and Rémi Vignolo on drums. In February, the new album "Eklektik" by Antonio Faraò is published for Warner Music in which Ricci is present on two tracks, "News from ..." alongside Snoop Dogg and "Through the Day". Walter Ricci, performing both with his own formations and in collaboration with renowned artists, proves to have not only mastered the great tradition of the most famous overseas crooners but, thanks to listening without restrictions and unlimited love for music of every genre and time, to be able to create a personal style full of nuances and new sounds, which sweeps with great naturalness from jazz to pop.
