Eric Lune returns to Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint for his debut EP entitled ‘Embers'. The Australian artist kick-started his career on the long standing Belgian label with a contribution to their 2018 Summer Sampler. The Melbourne resident has amassed an impressive portfolio since, with releases on Dopamine Music, Juicebox Music, RADIANT and Timeless Moment being the most notable. Now following a well received single for Strange Town Recordings, Eric returns to Sound Avenue for a three track artist showcase.

Eric has already gained considerable recognition for his melody crafting prowess and this sentiment will certainly grow with the lead piece ‘Embers'. Anchored by a warm progressive groove, it's rhythmic core comes up quickly, with layers of finely tuned drums, subtle shades and vibrant tones. Fragmented vocals and a jangly motif unite in a perfect sonic marriage, before a squirrelly arp adds a playful yet euphoric touch. Melting down into the break, it's symphonic theme resonates on a higher frequency, flowing through tasteful modulation as the groove drops for a finale of emotive chord changes.

The EP's midway point finds Eric exploring an esoteric narrative with ‘Black Spur'. It's wonky groove is monumentally funky; perfectly carved and characterized by effervescent acid. Smooth and submerged, it provides the perfect foundation for waves of percussion, metal hits and emotive overlays to elevate mood across the first act. The second of two breaks advances the narrative further, as harmonic swells descend over a blend of melody and colour, before perfectly segueing into a quirky final act.

Rounding out the release are the deeper, techno inspired vibes of ‘Milan to Minsk'. Known for splitting time between creative spaces, Eric's boundless ingenuity fuels this cross pollinated gem. It's punchy beats, perfectly contoured bass and percussive waves unite for a tight rhythmic core. Astral arps and cosmic flurries then advance the narrative with an effortless ease, splitting moods between the surreal and emotive. Building to an effervescent sizzle, the centrepiece captivates and excites with a rare unpredictably, before eventually accelerating to a tasteful crescendo. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Eric, making his debut EP for Sound Avenue a most memorable one.
