Searching For The Sunshine

Summer Children

KID Recordings
KIDDEP 10116 | 2019-09-20
After more than a decade buried deep within KID Recordings’ vaults, Summer Children’s long lost unreleased debut ‘Searching For The Sunshine’ finally sees the light of day.

The brainchild of multi-talented Atlanta producer Chris Brann (the creative force behind Wamdue Project, Ananda Project, P’taah and more), the project was conceived as a vehicle – and outlet - for the prolific mastermind’s more conceptual musical explorations heavily influenced by artists like George Duke, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Eumir Deodato, Gilberto Gil, Azymuth, Fania Allstars, Johnny Hammond and Lonnie Liston Smith.

Brann enlists a top-notch selection of musicians from his stable to bring his eclectic vision to life including: percussionist Genoa Mungin, Darryl Freeman on bass, Julius Speed on Rhodes and acoustic piano, and vocalists Terrence Downs and Heidi Vogel .

Seamlessly melding elements of cosmic jazz fusion, Afro-Latin soul, Brazilian samba, bossa nova and batucada, alongside Brann’s signature organic-fueled deep house grooves, the collective crafts a kaleidoscopic musical catharsis that’s equally euphoric, meditative and sublime. The 2-track set journeys through intricate sun-soaked panoramas punctuated with sensuous jazz-tinged vibes, beatific percussive polyrhythms, sweeping warm textures and soothing quixotic vocals that conjure images of balmy tropical destinations in Brazil, The Caribbean or Iberian peninsula.
