The latest release from Another Life Music finds label boss Bynomic back in the spotlight with a new single. Hailing from Zurich, the Swiss artist has been enjoying his best year on record. Well received releases for Madloch's 3rd Avenue, Kitchen Recordings and Smart Phenomena Limited have highlighted what has been a stellar 2019. Now returning to his comfortable home of Another Life, Bynomic presents ‘Misunderstood Technology' alongside remixes from Adrian Roman, Agustin Aluise and Va O.N.E.
Bynomic's sound has always sat in the creative space between progressive house and techno. His latest ‘Misunderstood Technology' lands closer to the latter and with a decidedly astral quality. On a backbone of pulsating beats comes trippy arps and wave after wave of sonic dust. Dark and dramatic throughout, it's a perfectly constructed second act which builds to a sonic sizzle, melting down to an acid like rumble, before timely modulation and a wall of white noise ignites a powerful finale.
The first interpretation of ‘Misunderstood Technology' is provided by Adrian Roman who makes his label debut following strong outings for Asymmetric Dip, Beat Boutique and ICONYC Noir. Always a creative remixer, Adrian takes the track into more progressive minded territory. The dramatic tone of the original is well conveyed here but over a fuller more driving groove, while the break shifts the proceedings a touch closer to the emotive, all while keeping the spirit of Bynomic's version alive.
Rising out of the progressive house hotbed of Argentina is Agustin Aluise. Although early in his career, the Buenos Aires resident has already notched releases on Massive Harmony Records and Stellar Fountain's Astrowave. Now presenting his first ever remix, Agustin debuts on Another Life with a quality rendition of ‘Misunderstood Technology'. The low end is the first thing to grab your attention here, quite rough and rugged, it's full of amazing sonic qualities (not to mention some added funk), sitting as a perfect foundation for fragmented melodies and buzzing synths to work their magic over. A powerful remix from Agustin who has certainly made himself a name to watch in Argentina's ever growing talent pool.
The release concludes with VA O.N.E also making his label debut and providing the third and final interpretation of ‘Misunderstood Technology'. The Russian artist is perhaps best known for his releases on Balkan Connection's BC2 and Clinqiue Recordings. Now fresh off two remixes for Mystic Carousel, VA O.N.E. rounds out the release with a cool take on ‘Misunderstood Technology'. Perhaps the most old school version on the release this comes with a classic galloping groove, bleepy arps and a barrage of metallic designs, the latter of which converge for a mind bending finale. A haunting remix from VA O.N.E. which caps off a very well rounded release for Another Life Music. Highly recommended.
