Get Up Recordings is proudly comprised of artists who are friends and family. Most are seasoned producers, but we absolutely love to intro new fire artist debuts and our next release is just that: with Five and his debut EP, “Wanna See This?”

Five is a DJ and Producer from New Orleans currently based in Brooklyn. After previously leaving New York in 2010, he began DJing in New Orleans by throwing dance parties with other like-minded artists. Five began collaborating with New Orleans based visual artist and DJ, Bouffant Bouffant, in 2014 with a project named ‘Babygirl,’ and their affinity for classic, soulful, bitchy and diva-oriented house music gained them a fair amount of attention within the queer dance/electronic music social networks of the US and beyond. Since moving back to New York in 2018, Five has had a fortunate reintroduction to the NYC nightlife community, playing at many of the now-staple venues such as Good Room, Elsewhere, Nowadays, 3 Dollar Bill, and hosting a semi-regular party at Black Flamingo where he continues to DJ with best friend and long-time collaborator Bouffant Bouffant (who has a remix on the Spatial Awareness “Shy Nerruda” EP, also on Get Up Recordings).

“Wanna See This?” has two original tracks with three remixes. The title track is “Wanna See This?” with its infectious old school bass sound and drums, while a diva’s phone conversation rides on top of it all. Five offers up an alternate version entitled the “Voyeur Mix”, which has more keys and melody adding a greater depth to the groove. This mix gives way to the two remixes from NYC’s The Carry Nation and Berlin’s Juan Ramos. The Carry Nation remix is full in its realization with piano riffs and reverb percussion, while Juan’s remix is a full-on acid soundscape which takes the track on a lush journey.

The b-side track is “She Needs” - a full throwback to the early Chicago House sounds of Paul Johnson and DJ Sneak; it’s raw, gritty and gets the job done.
