Modena, 1980s. a rich province, widespread prosperity, a happy city. Only in appearance. In the surrounding countryside, little by little, the tortured bodies of young Italians are found: they were killed and abandoned in ditches or in the ruins of old farmhouses. The victims are almost all drug addicts, become prostitutes out of necessity. The last victim is from 1995. In the end there will be about ten cases, all of which are unresolved.
Now their story and the hunt for the murderer are told by the documentary Il Mostro di Modena, written and directed by Gabriele Veronesi, produced by Taiga, supported by the Emilia Romagna Region and the Emilia Romagna Film Commission, under the patronage of the Municipality of Modena.
