Stay Strong (Eaze Tribute)

Placidic Dream

Phunky Rabbit Records
PRR065 | 2019-07-02
Towards the tail end of 2018 I was approached by my good friend Eaze to produce a backing track in the style of my remix for 'Echoes' for a vocalist Eaze knew well. I did produce the backing but unfortunately the vocalist became to ill to work on the track. I was travelling to Thailand for a few months in November but just before i left Eaze sent me written lyrics for the track and we were looking for a new vocalist to go on it ready for my return. I was in complete shock when I learned Eaze had passed away during my stay in Asia as last time we spoke he assured me the doctors thought he was on the mend. When I returned I decided to finish the track singing Eaze's lyrics myself as the words rang true for me. It was the last project I worked on with Eaze so I thought it fitting to release it as a tribute to the great man. Eaze was with Phunky Rabbit right from the start and became very involved with the label in every aspect. Eaze was a legend in his own right just for his Rap style. His deep cool Brooklyn drawl was his trade mark. Eaze worked in just about every department of House music from writing all the way through to DJing the final products. He was a real ambassador for the cause. I will miss him not just for the work we did together but most of all as a true genuine friend. We would put the world to rights many times in our chats and this is reflected in the lyrics of the track. A couple of the producers at Phunky Rabbit who also worked with Eaze have also provided remixes to show their respects. Lucius Lowe and in particular Rampus(Bjarne Sorum) who had the good fortune to fly over to NYC a few years back to meet him personally. As you all know I finish off my Write ups explaining 'It is all about the music' at Phunky Rabbit. Eaze really was all about the music and he will be sorely missed. We have his memories and music to remind us of many happy days in the house music industry. Eddie 'Eaze' Coleman R.I.P.
